JPG to PNG

Save a JPEG as a PNG when you need a lossless file.

Runs in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Add one or more JPEG files.
  2. Choose JPG to PNG.
  3. Download the PNG. Expect it to be larger.

Why the file often grows

JPEG has already thrown detail away. PNG stores what is left without that kind of loss, so the same pixels usually take more bytes. The page shows both sizes and will say there is no saving when the PNG is bigger.

Use this when a form, a printer or an older tool refuses JPEG. It does not recover detail the JPEG never had, and it does not add transparency.

Questions

Will the PNG look sharper?

No. It is the same picture, stored differently.

Is there a quality slider?

No. PNG output here is lossless, so there is nothing for a quality slider to do.

Is the JPEG uploaded?

No.
