Sizes
Bra size converter
UK and Irish bands and cups beside US and EU labels.
Ireland uses the same clothing and shoe sizes as the UK. Brands still vary from any chart.
These are standard published conversions. A label from one brand can sit a size either side of the chart.
How to use it
- Select the UK or Irish band and cup.
- Read the US and EU labels. The EU band is a different number. The cup letter changes after D.
- Check the sister sizes if a band is between sizes or feels tight.
Bands and the cup alphabet
The UK and US band numbers match: 32, 34, 36. The EU band is on a 5 cm scale: UK 28 is EU 60, UK 32 is 70, UK 34 is 75, UK 36 is 80, and so on up to UK 48 as EU 110.
Cups run together through D. At the next cup, UK DD is US DD and EU E. UK E is US DDD and EU F. Then UK F is US G and EU G, and the double letters continue: FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, with the US and EU single letters stepping on. Some US brands print F where this table prints DDD for a UK E. If the brand publishes its own cup ladder, use that ladder.
Sister sizes and how to measure
A sister size keeps a similar cup volume when the band changes. One band down, two inches, takes the next cup up: 34D sits beside 32DD and 36C on the UK scale. The band should sit level and firm on the loosest hook when it is new. The cup should contain the breast without gaping or spilling.
Measure the underbust for the band and the fullest bust for the cup, then let the brand’s own table finish the job. Ireland uses UK bra sizes. These rows are a published chart. Two brands with the same number can fit differently, and a garment can be cut for a different body than the chart assumes. A sports bra and an underwired bra from the same label can still want different sizes.
Questions
What is a UK 34DD in the EU?
EU 75E on this table. The band 34 becomes 75, and the cup DD becomes E.
Is a UK E a US E?
On this progression a UK E is a US DDD, sometimes written F by a US brand. The EU cup at that step is F.
