Women’s shoe size converter
UK and Irish, US and EU women’s shoes, plus foot length.
Ireland uses the same clothing and shoe sizes as the UK. Brands still vary from any chart.
These are standard published conversions. A label from one brand can sit a size either side of the chart.
How to use it
- Select the UK or Irish size, including a half size if you wear one.
- Read the US size and the EU size from the ASOS whole-size chart, or the half-size extension.
- Compare the foot-length column with a measurement taken standing, later in the day.
The ASOS chart, and the other EU number
Whole sizes are the ASOS women’s footwear chart. UK 2 is EU 35 and US 4, with a 212 mm foot. UK 8 is EU 41 and US 10, with a 262 mm foot. The US number is two above the UK number. The EU number on this chart is 33 above the UK number.
Plenty of other charts print the EU size one higher, so a UK 8 is EU 42. If the shop’s own table says that, follow the shop. Half sizes here are the ASOS rows extended by 0.5, and the millimetres are the midpoint of the two published neighbours. ASOS itself prints whole sizes only. Australian women’s shoe labels sometimes match the UK number and sometimes match the US number.
Measure the longer foot
Stand on a piece of paper with the heel against a wall, mark the longest toe, and measure in millimetres. Feet swell through the day, and one foot is often longer. Use the longer foot and, if you land between rows, the larger size.
Ireland uses the same shoe sizes as the UK. Width, a pointed toe and a trainer last all change the fit after the length is right. These rows are a published chart. Two brands with the same number can fit differently, and a garment can be cut for a different body than the chart assumes.
Questions
What is a UK 6 in US and EU?
On the ASOS chart a UK 6 is a US 8 and an EU 39, for a foot of about 246 mm. Some EU charts will print 40.
Do I add two sizes for every women’s shoe?
For a US women’s size, the usual offset from the UK is two. Men’s shoes use a different offset. Children’s shoes are on their own page.
